For the First Time Ever: Our Year in Impact at Lanai Cat Sanctuary

For the first time in our history, we’ve released an official Impact Report — and it’s all thanks to you.

This milestone document highlights what your support has made possible from September 2023 through August 2024. From rescuing 220 cats from the Lahaina burn zone to launching new enclosures and performing over 260 stomatitis surgeries, the report tells the full story of a year filled with resilience, growth, and life-saving care.

Here are a few highlights from the report:

  • 449 cats rescued, including 220 from Lahaina
  • No cat-related bird deaths since 2021
  • 3 dental surgeries performed
  • Over 50,000 pounds of cat food distributed
  • 35 cats transferred to the mainland for adoption

You’ll also meet Maya, a tiny kitten flown to an emergency vet on Oʻahu who made a miraculous recovery and found her forever home. You’ll see how we’ve built new enclosures like the Laulima Center to support recovery and socialization, and how your support helped us reach cats who’ve never known human kindness — until now.

Why it matters: This report isn’t just a look back — it’s a testament to your impact and the lives you’ve helped transform. It also outlines our goals for the coming year, including expanding programs like Rent a Piece of Purradise and pursuing permanent funding to ensure long-term stability for the sanctuary.
