June 2023 – May 14 was a purrfect day for all of us. RJ and Sarah chose the Lanai Cat Sanctuary to make a lifelong commitment to one another. They had over 660 feline witnesses, as well as all of you who watched their livestream.

Getting married surrounded by cats can create a unique and memorable experience. Here are a few reasons why someone might choose to have cats present at their wedding:

1. Personal significance: If cats hold a special place in your heart and have played a significant role in your life, incorporating them into your wedding can be a meaningful way to honor that bond. It allows you to celebrate your love for cats alongside your love for your partner.

2. Symbolism: Cats have been associated with various symbolic meanings throughout history and across different cultures. They are often associated with qualities like independence, curiosity, grace, and mystery. Having cats present at your wedding can symbolize these qualities, adding depth and significance to the ceremony.

3. Emotional support: For some individuals, the presence of animals, particularly cats, can provide emotional support and comfort during important events. Cats are known for their calming and soothing presence, and having them nearby can help alleviate stress and create a more relaxed atmosphere during the wedding.

4. Quirkiness and uniqueness: Incorporating cats into your wedding can add a touch of quirkiness and uniqueness to the event. It can be a fun and unexpected element that sets your wedding apart from traditional ceremonies, making it more memorable and enjoyable for you and your guests.

5. Photogenic moments: Cats can bring joy and laughter to any situation, and having them around during your wedding can create adorable and memorable photo opportunities. Cats are known for their unpredictable and amusing behavior, which can result in candid and heartwarming moments captured on camera.

It’s important to note that if you decide to have cats present at your wedding, their well-being and comfort should be a top priority. Ensure that the cats are familiar with the environment, have a safe space to retreat to if needed, and are not put in situations that could cause them stress or harm.
