August 2023 – Lanai Cat Sanctuary’s dedicated staff are its greatest asset. Their leadership ensures the highest standards of care for a center that is the only animal welfare organization on the island. It has promoted three staff members of its animal welfare team. All of these positions are funded by donations.

Joe Adarna has been promoted to Director of Operations. He brings nearly 10 years of animal welfare experience to his new position at a time of significant growth for the nonprofit. He previously served as a Manager of animal admissions and as a Humane Investigator on Oahu. In his new position, Joe is responsible for managing the sanctuary’s daily operations and optimizing operations for the organization’s expanded facilities and new programs.

 

 

Yu Batoon now serves as Sanctuary Manager. Yu is responsible for the center’s adoptions program and animal care services. As a former veterinary assistant and recently a sanctuary supervisor, she has successfully cared for sick and senior cats and helped staff grow, ensuring the cats receive high quality care for life. In her new position, Yu is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the sanctuary, ensuring the welfare of the cats and managing the staff and volunteers who care for them.

 

Tanisha Batoon has been promoted to Supervisor. As a devoted sanctuary ambassador, she has been instrumental in providing tours to over 16,000 visitors a year while also managing our social media accounts. In her new position, Tanisha is responsible for overseeing various aspects of the sanctuary’s operations and ensuring that the cats receive proper care and attention.
